Product description

Protec R13 One is an anti-slip coating certified with the highest anti-slip class, R13. It is suitable for all slippery and wet surfaces. The coating is used without a hardener.

It is used whenever chemical resistance is not the primary requirement. This makes it ideal for stairs, garage entrances, paths, or tiles.

Whenever maximum chemical resistance is required—that is, resistance to oils, alkalis, acids, or lubricants—we recommend our product Protec R13 Two, including hardener.

Top mechanical resistance

The mechanical resistance of this product is second to none. Extremely resilient, even on heavily used substrates.

How must the substrate be prepared?

Cleaning:
The substrate must be thoroughly cleaned to remove dirt, oil, grease, dust, and other contaminants. This can be done by sweeping, mopping, and, if necessary, using high-pressure cleaners or special cleaning agents.

Drying:
The floor must be completely dry before applying a coating. Check that no moisture is trapped in the substrate, as this can impair adhesion.

Surface inspection:
Inspect the floor for cracks, holes, or other damage. These should be repaired to ensure an even coating.

Dust removal:
After sanding (if necessary), the floor should be thoroughly dusted again to ensure that no dust particles impair the adhesion of the new coating.

This careful preparation ensures that the anti-slip coating adheres optimally and maintains its effectiveness over a long period of time.

Do you have to sand the surface?

To increase surface roughness and improve coating adhesion, it may be necessary to grind or abrade the surface. This also removes old coatings that could impair adhesion.

Do you need a primer?

In general, the product can also be applied without a primer. However, it may be advisable to apply a primer to improve the adhesion of the anti-slip coating. This should be selected and applied in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions.

At what temperatures should processing take place?

The following guidelines apply for the optimal temperature for applying the anti-slip coating.

Recommended temperature range: Our anti-slip coatings should be applied at temperatures between 10 °C and 30 °C. This ensures that the coating adheres well and cures properly.

Avoiding extreme temperatures: At temperatures below 10 °C, the curing of the coating can be impaired, which can lead to poor adhesion and longer drying times. At temperatures above 30 °C, the coating can dry too quickly, which can also negatively affect the adhesion and the final result.

Humidity: Air humidity also plays a role. High humidity can extend the drying time, while low humidity can accelerate curing.

Floor and surface temperature: The temperature of the surface itself should also be considered. Ideally, it should be within the recommended temperature range to ensure that the coating adheres well.

How long does it take for the anti-slip coating to dry?

The following guidelines apply to the drying time of the anti-slip coating.

Touch-dry: The anti-slip coating is touch-dry after about 1 to 2 hours. This means that the surface is no longer sticky, but not yet fully cured.

Curing: Full curing generally takes approx. 24 hours, depending on ambient conditions (such as temperature and humidity).
