Usage

Indoor and outdoor use. Oily and greasy surfaces. Surfaces exposed to alkalis and acids, fuels, lubricants, or salt water

Processing

Mix hardener and coating in the specified ratio. Clean the surface thoroughly. Apply using a Protec roller or Protec spray gun.

Pre-treatment

Galvanized sheet metal, stainless steel, and aluminum must be pre-treated with Protec primer. Clean and degrease the surface thoroughly.

Product description

This is a 2-component anti-slip coating for the highest demands. The coating meets the R13 standard (highest slip resistance class). The hardener required for this product is already included in the correct quantity.

The product is characterized by very high chemical resistance, excellent adhesion, and durability. The coating is suitable for all surfaces exposed to cooling lubricants, oils, alkalis and acids, fuels, or salt water.

Protec R13 Two is suitable for applications where maximum slip resistance combined with the best resistance to chemical and mechanical influences is required. The coating is highly resistant to salt water, (lubricating) oils and greases, acids and alkalis. As well as fuels, thinners, etc. At the same time, the product is easy to apply, dries quickly, and is long-lasting.

The product is easy to apply. Please be sure to follow the instructions for surface preparation.

Superior chemical resistance

The product is highly resistant to fats and oils, acids and alkalis, lubricants and fuels. Against salt water, thinners, etc.

How must the substrate be prepared?

Cleaning:
The substrate must be thoroughly cleaned to remove dirt, oil, grease, dust, and other contaminants. This can be done by sweeping, mopping, and, if necessary, using high-pressure cleaners or special cleaning agents.

Drying:
The floor must be completely dry before a coating is applied. Check that no moisture is trapped in the substrate, as this can impair adhesion.

Surface inspection:
Check the floor for cracks, holes, or other damage. These should be repaired to ensure an even coating.

Dedusting:
After sanding (if necessary), the floor should be thoroughly dedusted again to ensure that no dust particles impair the adhesion of the new coating.

This careful preparation ensures that the anti-slip coating adheres optimally and maintains its effectiveness over a long period of time.

Do you need to sand the surface?

To increase the surface roughness and improve the adhesion of the coating, it may be necessary to sand or abrade the surface. This also removes old coatings that could impair adhesion.

Do you need a primer?

Yes, for this product, we definitely recommend using the "Protec Primer" we offer for products in the "Protec series".

At what temperatures should processing take place?

The following guidelines apply to the optimal temperature for applying the anti-slip coating.

Recommended temperature range: Our anti-slip coating should be applied at temperatures between 10 °C and 30 °C. This ensures that the coating adheres well and cures properly.

Avoiding extreme temperatures: At temperatures below 10 °C, the curing of the coating can be impaired, which can lead to poor adhesion and longer drying times. At temperatures above 30 °C, the coating may dry too quickly, which can also negatively affect adhesion and the final result.

Humidity: Air humidity also plays a role. High humidity can prolong drying time, while low humidity can accelerate curing.

Floor and substrate temperature: The temperature of the substrate itself should also be taken into account. Ideally, it should be within the recommended temperature range to ensure that the coating adheres well.

How long does it take for the anti-slip coating to dry?

The following guidelines apply to the drying time of the anti-slip coating.

Touch-dry: The anti-slip coating is touch-dry after about 1 to 2 hours. This means that the surface is no longer tacky, but has not yet fully cured.

Curing: Full curing generally takes approximately 24 hours, depending on environmental conditions (such as temperature and humidity).
